The fruit produced in the valley of the river Jiloca can be considered almost as works of craftsmanship, lovingly conveyed from the tree to your table. There is wide appreciation for the pippin, verde doncella and golden delicious apples, pears, cherries and peaches.
Continental climate in Maluenda typically features dry and quite hot summers and very cold winters. Rainfall is relatively low (less than 350mm per year). Temperatures in summer are milder due to the altitude of the land (700m). This results in sharp temperature swings from day to night (up to 12.5ºC) ideal for the cultivation of fruit.
The average daily temperature in July and August is 30ºC dropping down to 10ºC in December and January with minimum temperatures as low as -10ºC. This climate allows for long growing periods and slow ripening of the fruit, cold nights contributing to lower acidity levels.
Rainfall, quite scarce, concentrates in the first stage of growth, mostly in April and July. In contrast, the summers are hot and dry, with occasional storms.
